U8 Go Games Blitz
The campervans may have been pitched, but there was certainly no holiday mood on display from the Piltown U8s this morning as we welcomed both Glenmore and Dunnamaggin to the complex on a Sunday perfectly suited for hurling.
With the sun shining, a gentle breeze blowing, and the county hurlers having overcome their Wexford neighbours the evening before, excitement was high. For some of our U7s, it was their first taste of Go Games hurling, while the U8s showed how their growing experience has made them into seasoned performers as the morning progressed.
The enthusiasm for hurling in the parish was clear, with a pool of 25 Piltown boys taking part.
The ethos of Go Games places the emphasis firmly on fun and skill development rather than final scores, and both were evident in abundance. Every tackle, pull, and block was celebrated, while points and goals flowed freely throughout.
All games were evenly contested and, had scores been kept, each of the Piltown teams would have experienced a mix of wins, draws, and losses.
A big thank you to our three U16 lads; Joe Barry, Jack Farrell, and Ronan Connolly, who kindly volunteered their Sunday morning to expertly referee the games. A final mention also to Niall Bergin for manning the hooter.
