Junior Camogie ACL Semi Final - Wednesday 15 July 2026.
Our Junior team headed over the hill to Hugginstown to take on Carrickshock for a place in the ACL Junior Final.
The game started with a flurry of points with both sides starting brightly, Grace Farrell grabbed a triplet of points from frees, Kaleigh OShea with one from play as we matched the home sides scoring with Aine Ronan , Amy and Katie OShea to the fore as usual.
Carrickshock were on fire , the pace and speed of their forwards was very hard to contain , and they tagged on points to stretch their lead out, and only for some wasteful shooting in the first half (nine wides ) their lead would have been more at half time.
We had pace in our own side also and it was a burst of speed from Ruby Norris down the left , and her pass inside to Grace Farrell that created a goal opportunity in the 23rd minute, and it didnt go astray with Grace rifling the ball to the net. Ruby got a score of her own in the 24th minute after good work from Leah Cooney to get the ball to her to put Piltown ahead for the first time. Carrickshock upped it again though ,scoring 2-04 in the last five minutes of the half to make the score at half time - CARRICKSHOCK 2-11 PILTOWN 1 -05
After the sup of water , badly needed in the heat , Piltown were first on the score board again through Grace Farrell , Grace would finish up with a personal tally of 1-09, but again the home side countered . 1-02 in three minutes, 2 points for Amy OShea, and a goal from distance from Aine Rohan, followed by a point. But again Piltown came back, and were now on top. Playing better in defence, and causing problems in the forwards. Ruby got another, Grace got 2 more frees, and Leah Cooney tagged a point, before Shocks scored again. Ruby scored a goal to close the gap, and Grace with a brace of frees put a better look on the score board.
A good performance from the away side , but Carrickshock proved to be the better side on the night. A good entertaining game , played on a very warm evening. Well done to both panels , and best of luck to Carrickshock in the Final. FINAL SCORE - CARRICKSHOCK 3 -17 PILTOWN 2 -13
