Match report for Piltown u7 & u8 v Clonea. 

This week saw 13 of our u7s and 13 of our u8s take on Clonea in another great challenge match.

The weather brought a different set of problems. No longer able to complain about the sun and heat, we simply had to shift the complaint radar onto the rain! Thankfully, it didn't stop the games going ahead.

Clonea seemed better prepared for the conditions and started strongly, taking an early lead. Despite their dominance in the first half, Piltown kept the scoreboard ticking over and managed to close the gap as the half-time whistle went.

The second half was a much more even contest, with both teams trading scores. There were some excellent skills on display, along with some great blocks and tackles. The defensive work was celebrated just as much as the scores. 

These challenge games give us a chance to see the many strengths within the group, but also highlight the areas we can work on over the coming weeks.

A big well done to all 26 lads who represented Piltown so well tonight. Great effort from everyone.

Wishing all the lads the very best as they head back to school later this week and keep an eye out for some hurling homework to go alongside the maths!
